If you decide to take the examination personally in Trieste, admission to the Ph.D courses takes place through a selection based on a written and/or oral examination evaluated together with the academic and scientific qualifications presented by each candidate,  and at least one letter of reference. The examination for each Ph.D. is held by the academic Sector in charge of each program. Thus the dates for examinations and type of exam depend explicitly on each Sector.
