Students must be selected through an entrance examination, which can be held either in person at SISSA or online, according to the decision of each PhD Faculty. The entrance exams consist of a written and/or oral test, which are evaluated together with the academic and scientific qualifications submitted by each candidate, as well as at least one letter of reference. Usually, there are one or two selection sessions per year, typically in Spring or Spring/Summer. Here you can find the announcements and the link to the online application procedure for admissions.

Non-EU citizens

Please note that pre-enrollment at SISSA does not, in any way, guarantee an appointment with the diplomatic or consular representations to submit visa applications. It is also recalled that the admission of a candidate to a SISSA PhD programme does not confer any right to obtain a visa, given that issuing study visas is the exclusive responsibility of the Italian Embassies/Consulates.
