SISSA PhD students coming from outside Italy are entitled to a one-time relocation contribution at the beginning of their studies. The amount varies from 500 to 1000 euros depending on the country or the place from where the student arrives to start their PhD.
The general rules are the following:
- Students arriving from outside the EU and Schengen zone are entitled to a contribution of 1000 euros.
- Students arriving from outside Italy, but within the EU and Schengen zone are entitled to a contribution of 500 euros.
- There are a few special cases, for example, students of the Postgraduate Diploma Programme of ICTP or students living in the neighbouring regions in Slovenia, for which contribution might not apply. In this case, please contact the Students' Secretariat at to obtain more information.
How to apply
Fill out the following form PHD Mobility Contribution and send it to the Protocollo office at with all the necessary documents that confirm the eligibility for the contribution. Please contact the Students' Secretariat at to get a list of document needed to be submitted in your specific case.
