SISSA sends an announcement to all the students when an Italian course is organized by some Trieste-based institution. Italian courses are also held at the ICTP and are open to scientists from all the scientific institutions in the city. Non-ICTP members have to pay a small fee.

There are regional non-profit organizations like IAL where one can easily find Italian courses throughout the year. The address is Via Pondares 5.

One can also follow courses at the Università Popolare that is located in Piazza Del Ponterosso n.6. For these you have to pay a fair amount (around 120-130€).

We are very happy to announce that in response to popular demand, we are able to offer ITALIAN LESSONS for young scientists at SISSA.

There will be two levels of course offered:

Absolute Beginners (for those with NO or VERY LITTLE Italian) - and Post Beginners (for those who have been in Italy for a while but want to improve and practise their basic Italian).

The courses will be taught by a highly qualified mother tongue Italian teacher with many years' experience in teaching Italian to foreigners.

The lessons will focus on practical and conversational Italian as well as introducing you to some of the wonderful (and peculiar!) places and traditions of Trieste.

Provisional times are:

Mondays and Wednesdays: 17.00 - 19.00 Absolute Beginners 19.00 - 21.00 Post-Beginners

Courses will be 50 hours long and cost 100€ per participant. It will also be possible to pay in two installments (50€ immediately; 50€ from March).

Courses will start on Monday 11th February in Lecture room 138.

If you would like more information, or to register for the course, please contact Enrico M. Balli: (who is responsible for organising language courses for SISSA Medialab).
