* Entrance Exam: The specific dates of the entrance examination depend on each PhD (see [[Entrance Exam]]) but generally there is a Spring selection (March/April), and an Autumn selection (September/October).
 
* Pre-selection Exam: The deadline to send in all the appropriate documents for the Pre-selection is in April 2011 (see [[Preselection Application for Non European Candidates]]).
 
== Starting the PhD ==
The PhD courses in Astroparticle Physics, Geometry, Mathematical Physics and Theory of Elementary Particles start the first week of October. All the other sectors start the first week of November.
 
== Public Contests ==
Each public contents will be officially announced in [http://www.sissa.it/main/?p=A3_B4&what=150], generally there are 2-3 weeks between the announcement's publication and the deadline to submit all the required documentation.
 
== PhD Thesis Deadlines==
 
Generally students should submit their PhD thesis to the Students' Secretariat one month before their PhD defense.
